It's one thing for a Rolex to have a nickname, but it's another thing entirely to name it after a rockstar like John Mayer. But that's what this Daytona is - rockstar material.

Until a few years ago, only stainless steel Daytonas were selling for over retail. Solid gold references were seen as going against the ethos of a sports chronograph. But as the prices of steel watches skyrocketed, the precious metal Daytonas finally received some attention from the community.

It only took a quick glance for the market to fall in love. John Mayer showed off his example in an episode of Hodinkee's 'Talking Watches', catapulting it to horological stardom.

It's a classic Rolex design, with a rich yellow gold case and bracelet paired with a green dial. This iconic colour combo made it instantly recognisable and unapologetically luxurious.

ROLEX

Known by many simply as "the Crown", Rolex has certainly done much to deserve its reputation. From its founding just over a century ago by a German immigrant in the UK, Rolex has grown to become an international behemoth, recognisable (and indeed visible) across the globe.

Few other watchmakers can boast the same combination of consistency, quality and desirability as Rolex. Everything from the build quality of the cases and bracelets to the chronometer-rated movements are designed to ensure that even the most discerning of owners are satisfied.
