Stunning 'Weems' pilots watch produced for use during WWII by both navigators and pilots in the early days of the Battle of Britain, and as worn by Tom Hardy in the film 'Dunkirk'.
It is thought around 2000 of this version of the 6B/159 were ordered and issued, after it was decided that a rotating bezel would make calculations significantly easier during flights. The watch features two crowns, the upper to adjust the time, and the lower is used to rotate and fix the bezel.
The piece has fixed lugs and comes the leather strap currently attached and a British made BONKLIP bracelet, favoured by the Airforce for their military timepieces it can be easily and securely adjusted to a length that can either fit on the wrist or over the cuff of a pilots jacket.
Movement number 8.9m, case back number 9.9m. Watch is in good condition, the case has some light wear but no major dings or scratches. The black colouring has worn from within the numbers on the bezel. New leather strap fitted (the watch has fixed lugs). The watch was beautifully restored in 2017 including dial restoration, full service, replacement crown and replacement second hand.
