The Club Sport stands out against the vast majority of Nomos' lineup for two main reasons. First, it comes on a bracelet. Secondly, its among the brand's largest watches, at 42mm. For a company that's well-respected for making genuinely unisex watches, a 42mm watch with a steel bracelet comes as a slight surprise. Even so, this Nomos is still wearable for anyone, and boasts a slim and in-house automatic movement to boot.
The watch is in excellent condition, with some light scratches on the case and bracelet. There is a scratch on the 4 o'clock lug and some light wear to the hour hand.
This watch comes with the original outer box, inner zip case, booklet and original warranty paper.
NOMOS
Nomos is one of the many watchmakers packed into the tiny German town of Glashutte. However, unlike its neighbours which focus on tradition and history, Nomos is firmly on the cutting edge of watchmaking. Founded roughly at the same time as A. Lange & Sohne but by a computer nerd with no watchmaking experience, Nomos took a radically different approach, remaining financially independent of the luxury groups and marketing towards regular customers rather than the ultra-rich.
Nomos also took an unusual design-led approach to watchmaking. Before Lange released its now-famous 4-watch lineup at its official re-launch, Nomos released its own 4-watch collection which adhered to the principles of Bauhaus design. The brand was in fact very open about taking inspiration from 1930s Stowa and Lange designs, alluding to the timelessness of these designs. More recently, the brand has near-effortlessly combined these classic design cues with the use of colour ranging from subtle yet unexpected touches to an all-out chromatic extravaganza. This design expertise has understandably led to over 10 of the brand's watches receiving the prestigious 'Red Dot' design award.
However, its design-heavy credentials didn't detract from its watchmaking abilities. In 2014, Nomos announced it had designed and began manufacturing its own escapement system, something even the most prestigious of watchmakers didn't manage to achieve until recently.
