Glashutte Original's Sixties collection is a love letter to all things retro. Most notably, the highly stylised numerals are heavily inspired by the rather funky designs from the period.
It toes the line between watchmaking expertly, never stepping too far into kitsch. The round case is relatively traditional, but is appropriate for watches of the era. It's also a high-end watch through and through, with a well-decorated movement featuring striping, a swan neck regulator, and 21K gold oscillating weight.
GLASHÜTTE ORIGINAL
Glashutte Original may not be as well known as its fellow Glashutte-based compatriots, but that doesn't mean it's any less of a watchmaker. Situated in the watchmaking heartland of Saxony, it offers traditional German horology at a price that's less eye-watering than some of its neighbours. Traditional high-end finishing methods are still present in their movements, such as screwed gold chatons and hand-engraved surfaces. This gives Glashutte Original incredible value for money, while remaining distinctively German in design.
