The Tank Cintree is one of Cartier's original iconic designs from its golden age in the early 20th Century. Released in 1921, the Cintree stood out for its dedicated design (most wristwatches at that point were pocket watch conversions) as well as its boldly curved shape. Even the caseback and dial was curved, underlining the fact that it was made to be worn on the wrist.

Unlike the wristwatch conversions borne out of necessity during the First World War, the Tank Cintree was focused almost entirely on aesthetics, rather than a practical purpose. It stood out as an object of beauty, almost moreso than its primary purpose of telling the time. This Cartier Tank Cintree was created to commemorate the model's 100th Anniversary, and was produced in a limited edition run of 100 watches.

Cartier comfortably sits at the intersection between fine watchmaking and art, combining years of heritage with eye-catching and unique case designs. From its inception in the turn of the 20th Century, Cartier has earned a well-deserved reputation for being a manufacture that has successfully transformed the humble wristwatch from a soldier's tool into a true object of desire.
